the Japanese American Budokan Trust (JABT) has two initiatives: the Reiko Makino Scholarship and the JABT Athletic Grant. JABT is a registered 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting our college-bound students and artist-athletes through charitable giving.
Named in honor of Reiko Makino, the late mother of our trustee Yoko Makino, this scholarship reflects her deep commitment to fostering well-rounded, dynamic individuals. Through this initiative, we aim to support college-bound students who embody the spirit of bunbu-ryōdō (the balance of martial and scholarly pursuits). Application Deadline for 2025: May 1st, 2025
JABT Athletic Grant
Designed to support JAB members who wish to further their training by attending special seminars or competing in tournaments.

For those interested in donating, we welcome contributions of any amount via check or cash, made payable to the "Japanese American Budokan Trust." Online donations will also be available in the coming weeks. All award amounts will be determined based on the number of recipients and the annual budget. A yearly financial report will be made available to the public here.
